“When you recover or discover something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.”
– Jean Shinoda Bolen
Often times, it seems as though we spend the majority of our time running around and taking care of others while spending little time take care of ourselves. One of the biggest reasons why self-care matters is because when we go, go, go and give so much of ourselves to those we love and care for, we have little energy left for ourselves. Self-care replenishes the mind, body, and spirit. If you run on low energy constantly, it is difficult to look, feel and perform your very best.
For those of us who are parents and caregivers, it is extra important to make time for self-care. Here are many things that can happen if you do not take care of YOUrself.
- premature aging from stress
- not thinking you’re good enough
- increased risk of drug and alcohol abuse
- extreme fatigue
- mental fog
- weight gain
- relationships and career suffers
